Training Do's and Don'ts

What to wear

Generally the adults wear leotards and shorts for training, but don't let this put you off.  If you're feeling a little self conscious, a relatively tight fitting t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms are acceptable.  Be aware though that in the summer the gym can get warm, so a pair of shorts may come in handy.

Foot wear is optional.  Most of us train in bare feet, but you can wear gym shoes if you prefer.  Always have a pair of socks with you though, as these are a must for the Trampoline.

What not to wear

No jewellery is allowed to be worn in the gym at any time, including the following:

  • Earrings
  • Necklaces
  • Ankle chains
  • Rings
  • Belly bars

If you forget to remove these before the warm-up, one of the coaches will remind you before you are allowed on the floor.

This is to ensure that we follow the British Gymnastics rules and regulations.

No jeans or outdoor footwear are allowed in the gym, because of the damage they may cause to the equipment.

Loose fitting clothing is not generally allowed, as coaches may get caught up in it when supporting moves.

General Advice

You should always have a drink with you when you come to the gym, especially in the summer.  Preferably it should be an isotonic drink, to replace any lost fluids.  If not, water is fine.

Finally, try not to eat less than an hour before training.  Not only will it make you feel unwell, it may have some unfortunate consequesces......
